During the alpha the rules change every week while characters, towns and objects stay in the store. Some state is memory-only today (corpses, resource banks in the economy (#121)).
- Versioned records: every stored blob (characters, towns, objects) carries a version and is migrated on load; a test loads records of every older version.
- Everything that matters is durable: corpses with their items, resource banks, player buildings, pack animals.
- Backups of the store with a tested restore; a rollback to a point in time for a bad deploy or a dupe.
- Wipe policy for the alpha (when and what is wiped between waves, what testers keep) and the tooling to do it; a world bake change triggers a migration of world patches.
Done when a build with changed records deploys over live data without loss, and a restore from backup has been rehearsed.
