The economy is the logistics of power: goods move only on foot, by cart or by ship, and coin is heavy. A backpack alone makes hauling a chore and a raid limited to what one body carries. The alpha needs the next step up.
- Pack animals (pack horse, mule): bought in towns, follow their owner, carry a container of their own with a weight limit, walk at the owner's pace, can be killed and looted (full loot of the load), stabled in town.
- Carts pulled by an animal: much more weight, only on roads and open ground (no forests or rock), slow, a big target.
- Whether riding mounts exist, and how they change travel time across the 16k map (≈ 68 min on foot edge to edge), is a design question decided here.
- Models and animations for the animals and the cart (see
creatures-and-spawns), a container window for the load, server pathing that follows the owner across region handoffs.
Done when a hauler bot and a person can run a caravan of several animals between two towns and lose it to a raid.
